AV News 183 - February 2011
Chairman's Chatter
Keith Scott FRPS
Although the New Year may seem a long time ago this
is nonetheless our first opportunity in 2011 to wish all
our readers a happy, healthy and prosperous New
Year, with great emphasis on the healthy aspect.
You may recall that in our previous issue of AV
News we published a statement on behalf of the RPS
Distinctions Advisory Board following the unexpected
suspension of the AV Distinction Assessment Panel,
pending recommendations from the newly formed
'Time Based Media Working Group'. This working
group has since reported back with their initial
recommendations that: A new distinction panel should
be formed called 'Multimedia & Narrative', including the previous Audio Visual
and Film & Video (Moving Image) panels and encompassing time based media
and the new technologies (both present and future). Their formal statement to
this effect is printed on page 17. Please note the final paragraph of this
statement - that 'these recommendations are open for comment'. Therefore
your observations on this issue should be sent to Carol Agar, Special Projects
Manager (carol@rps.org) as soon as possible.
