We have 34 Associates within the KCPA and this year we had 29 entries from
10 Clubs which is heartening, because we view this as a growing interest in
AV. The general standard of entries is also improving, the new and younger
members - without the experience of slide/tape sequences, are trying some
of the many techniques available with the ever-changing digital system, some
to good effect.
One of the changes we campaigned for three years ago was to reduce the
maximum length of entries from 12 minutes to 10 minutes, this not only
assists with the programming but reminds entrants that 'shorter is usually
better', it is our belief that entrants are now taking this point on-board.
The winning sequences were as follows;
1st Place, and a very worthy winner of the Folkestone Town Council
Trophy 'Sandgate Evolves' by Melanie Chalk CPAGB of Folkestone CC. A
very interesting sequence starting when the Earth, as we know it, was being
formed and bringing us right up to date. Melanie made very effective use of
the masks available in PTE and the use of symbolism to illustrate many
events that simply could not be photographed.
