Folkestone Camera Club hosted this event on 27th November for the third year
running, which we feel has distinct advantages over playing host occasionally.
It gave us the opportunity to make improvements where needed, in particular
balancing the programme for those members attending.
It has always been our aim to make attending one of these occasions a
really enjoyable experience by providing a comfortable, well blacked-out
venue and providing light refreshments throughout the day, the cost being
included in the admission/entrance fee.
We find by restricting each session to just 50 minutes followed by a 20
minute break works well with a lunch break of 75 minutes. A bit of good fortune
has been that we have for the last two years managed to obtain the use of The
Tower Theatre, an ex garrison church which has been fitted-out with
comfortable tiered seating and no blacking-out is required, further good fortune
is that we have also persuaded the Folkestone Town Council to award a grant
for funding the venue.
On this occasion the responsibility of choosing the winners was placed on
the shoulders of Keith and Marilyn Leedham from the East Anglian
Federation. Although given the opportunity to view the sequences prior to the
event their final decision was not made until all the entries had been seen in
the theatre.
