Pretoria AV Club Training Workshop
Jeff Morris LRPS APSSA
We had an excellent turnout on the 23rd October at Irene Homes Hall in
Centurion. There were about 18 willing AV-makers with Marthie Bredenkamp
and Jeff giving advice and help.
We set up teams based around the clubs that sent participants. Each team
started off by planning their AV, after receiving their brief from Jeff. They then
took their own photos in the grounds and buildings, chose and edited a suitable
piece of music and one member from each team recorded a voice over after
learning basic microphone technique. In this way we worked through the basic
steps of making an AV. The teams even managed to work with volume
envelopes to fade out the music track while the voice-over played.
At the end of the day we
played the finished
products to the delight
and astonishment of the
students. Everyone who
attended, found the day
useful and left inspired
to try on their own.
Comments afterwards included: "Many thanks for sharing your time and
knowledge and making Saturday so informative. We all learnt a lot and
thoroughly enjoyed the day." (From Eileen Walker, Pretoria Photographic
Society) and "Thank you all for attending the AV training session on
