Despite the rain, wind and floods, some sixteen stalwarts travelled to
Trowbridge for this first meeting of 2014 from all over the South West, eager
to pay their annual subscriptions and contribute to the planned activities.
There must be something in the West Country air, as for the last few years
the February meeting of this audio-visual group is dedicated to a theme, this
year it was the construction of an AV from a collection of supplied images.
Members had been invited to each submit a single image of which all
twenty-nine were distributed to the total membership. The rules were quite
straightforward - a selection of all or part of at least twenty of these images
had to be included in the sequence with no personal additions. However,
texts, filters or D.I .effects could be applied, also music, sound effects and
voice-overs and each sequence had to be no more than four minutes in
length. (Well, some of them do go on a bit)
In the event some twelve sequences were presented for screening and
reflected the range of talent, creativity and ingenuity amongst the
membership although there may well be more to come from those members
who were 'casualties of the floods' but who have been invited to bring their
