AV News 193 - August 2013
Three Way Showdown
Lilian Webb AIPF
I first met Jeff Morris in Capel Curig in 2011 and then
at Sutton Bonington two years ago, when he and I
were the only 2 non UK people present! On 17th
April, 2012, I received an Email from Jeff, Chairman
of Pretoria AV Club, South Africa suggesting a 'battle
of the Republics'! I'd even called it 'Shamrocks' v
'Springboks'!
However, this ended
up being a three way
'battle' with the East
Leinster AV Group, Pretoria AV Club and
Shannon AV Group.
We chose Malcolm and Maggie Imhoff as our
judges and 5 sequences were sent from each
club/group. Malcolm and Maggie recorded their
comments on each sequence, which was
brilliant for both author and audience alike.
On Saturday, 11th May, Shannon Camera
Club hosted the Irish leg and the results were
kept away from the worldwide web until after
South Africa's leg on Saturday, 15th June. East
Leinster (below) were declared the winners with the best
overall sequence going to 'The
Stolen Child' by Noel Mahony.
'The Long Shadow' by Marie
McGuinness (below) was given
second place and Malcolm highly
commended 'A Quiet Garden' by
Alan Lyons - all East Leinster
members.
Maggie
gave
a
highly
commended to 'Between the
Shadow and the Soul' by
Lawrence Boatwright from Pretoria.
I'm intending to be in Sutton Bonington as
is Jeff .. and now he has discovered Irish
roots!
So, if anyone has a sequence they want
to enter into the IPF AV Internationals (See
Page 19) - I'll relieve you of your sequence,
forms and cash!
