AV News 190 - November 2012 Letters South of the M4 Tony Byram EFIAP ARPS AWPF DPAGB I read the letter from David Smalley (AV News 189 August 2012, Page 15) with some disappointment, and felt compelled to reply. Currently I am the Chairman of WAVES - 'Western Audio Visual Enthusiasts' which counts the eminent AV worker Sir George Pollock as one of its founder members. The first letter on page 14 is from Clive and Joan Rathband who make the point that they are members of WAVES. WAVES is based in Trowbridge, which is certainly south of the M4, and has members from Monmouth in the north to Bournemouth in the south and from Plymouth in the west to Faringdon in the east, so we certainly cover a wide area. Obviously we are not getting the message through to enough people that we exist and that we are a purely AV club (in the broadest sense), as I am sure that David will not be the only AV worker who does not know about us. Although WAVES itself is not part of the RPS many of our members are members of the RPS AV Group, so I can see that someone looking for AV and RPS as a general category, rather than AV Group/Club, might well miss us. In addition to WAVES there is another AV Group which is part of Wantage CC. Admittedly this is not actually south of the M4, being just a few miles north of Newbury, however it is only a short distance north of the motorway. Many of 'our' members, especially those around the Swindon area, are in fact members of both Wantage CC and WAVES. Our website address is www.waves-avgroup.co.uk where you can find our details and programme and you can also contact us through the website. Bridgend and District Camera Club 2013 5 to 8 Photo Harmony Competition Closing date Sunday 10th February 2013 with Judging taking place in March 2013 Bridgend CC welcomes group or club entries, to help encourage novice workers to participate in competition Full rules and entry forms can be found on our website at: www.bridgendcameraclub.co.uk The Photo Harmony category of AV allows photographers to demonstrate their skills in the production and visual progression of images linked to sound.
