AV News 186 - November 2011
I wanted some but not too much depth of focus and this meant that for much
of the time I was working at around 1/30 shutter. No, I did not use a tripod as
I wanted to get about 40 shots done in an hour, so the alternative was to
scramble about in odd contortions and click away.
As for the climax, where Tevye,
hands aloft, appeals to the Lord:
"Would it spoil some Vast Eternal
Plan…?" I ended up lying on the
church floor, shooting towards a
twelfth century pillar with the dying
light of day coming through the
upper 'synagogue' window.
Next day, thanks to the facilities of Wings Platinum I was able to run the
whole thing together in about two hours. I like to keep a regular pace in most
shows so I first downloaded all pictures at a nominal five seconds each with
a half second mix. (All done in a flash with about five clicks).
Then I jiggled the pix into a coherent
order, checking that words came
bang in as required, altering some pic
lengths in the process. I then looked
at the transitions, slowing some of the
mixes and putting in some snap
changes to keep people awake.
Lastly, I looked at each picture for
quality and framing giving an all round
tidy-up.
Since most of my work goes to
people without AV setups I turn the
end product first into an mpeg
(which I keep) and then a DVD.
But this one was only done for fun
and it won't go far! Just a keepsake
for my dear wife.
Yes, the flowers were nice, too.
