AV News 192 - May 2013
Saturday was a busy day for Richard as he judged over 30 sequences and
commented on each one after it was presented. Then he had to judge them in
the various competition categories. No mean task when working alone. Judging
decisions made he was treated to dinner (yes, we even feed our guest judges)
before the traditional evening showing of the award winning sequences.
The winner of the NIPA Open
competition was Paul Millar of
Donaghadee Camera Club, with a
sequence on the artist Marc Chagall,
'Sarah's Window'.
Second was 'Sinner or Saint' a
sequence on the life of an historic
Belfast man, Waddell Cunningham and
Third
was 'Plus ca Change' a
sequence on wall murals in Belfast.
Popular decisions as both these
sequences were by Mollie McConaghy
a well known figure in AV circles nationally.
The All Ireland competition and
PAGB Gold Medal was won by
James Hamill's ‘What might have
been', James is from Antrim
Camera Club. Also pictured are
Lilian Webb Irish Photographic

Magill President of the Northern
Ireland Photographic Association.
This sequence won last year at
Ballyearl and went on to win the first IPF All Ireland championship in Dublin. It
has continued by receiving an Hon. Mention and 2nd in the audience vote at
the recent IAC Peter Coles International.
The PAGB Silver medal went to
Brendan O'Sullivan of Cellbridge
Camera Club, for 'The Enchanted
Wood'.
The PAGB Bronze medal went to
'Sarah's Window'. 'What might have
been' also won the Audience vote.
