AV News 184 - May 2011

This has been an extremely difficult
issue to edit and is one that we hoped
we would not have had to do.
It was with great sadness and
disbelief that we heard of the sudden
passing of Peter Coles on 31st March.
As you can imagine tributes to Peter
have been flooding in to the family and
ourselves from Britain and abroad and
we have carried out a great many
rewrites of the magazine to try and
make sure that we include all that we
have received. We send our deepest sympathies to his wife Enid and his
children, Mark, Richard and Belinda.
The funeral Service was held at 2pm
on Friday 8th April in St. James's
Church, Hebden Bridge and was
very well attended both from within
the AV community and all the many
other organisations that Peter was
involved in.
Despite the sound system in the
church being set rather low we
attempted to record the Service for
those of his friends who were unable
to be present and this will be
available on the AV News website at
www.avnews.org.uk. Also on the site is a link to a small sequence produced
by Howard Bagshaw. We hope that they may be of some comfort to you.
Anyone wishing to make donations in Peter's memory can give them to the
preferred charity of the British Heart Foundation.

As well as dedicating this issue to Peter, we have tried to ensure that we also
include as many of our regular items as possible including news of the
'Nationals' which are being held at Sutton Bonington. The organising
committee have negotiated long and hard to try and get the best deal for those
attending - so please support the event if you can. See Page 50 for more
information.
Many events have taken place around the country including one of Peter's
favourite events and one that he should have judged this year - the IAC
Geoffrey Round International organised once again by the North Wales and
Wirral AV Group at Capel Curig. Eighty One sequences were shown over the
two days, reports and full results can be found starting on
Page 21 with some images on the centre pages.
