Jeff Morris, South Africa The Leeds Audio Visual Group held their 36th Annual Colour and Music Spectacular over three nights on the 8th, 9th and 10th of March 2011. The show was a great success once again with 588 paying people attending over the three nights. It has been the the practise over the years to have an audience vote to find a winner for the Mary Holmes Premier Trophy which was won this year by Laurie Ramsay for his natural history sequence titled Lydford Gorge. The audience choose the three sequences they liked the best (in no particular order) which they put on to a voting slip and the results over the three nights of the show determines the winner. This enables the audience to feel part of the show and also gives us an indication to what kind of sequences they prefer. Ralph Smith who is now 92 years old and still had a sequence in this year's show which did quite well. The Colour and Music Spectacular began in 1976 when Ralph and some of the members of the Leeds Camera Club decided to put on a show for the public. In 1984, Ralph who was competition secretary produced his trophy for the best Audio Visual sequence based on good photography and skill in Audio Visual production. In 1987 Ralph and Geoff Holmes along with other av members left the Leeds Camera Club and set up the Leeds and District Audio Visual Group. The trophy continues to be presented each year by experienced Audio Visual judges to the person who meets this criteria with their sequence. The trophy this year was presented to Peter Coles FRPS for his seuence 'Your Star' by Keith Brown FRPS MPAGB and Kate Brown DPAGB. Page 14
