AV News 197 - August 2014 E d ito ria l Jill K Bunting CPAGB & John Smith APAGB CPAGB Summer is here!! - well at least it would appear that maybe it is what with Wimbledon fortnight, the Open Golf Championship at Hoylake and the 'Grand Depart' of the Tour de France from of all places, sunny Yorkshire. We hope that you have managed to get out and about and maybe got together some ideas for new sequences. By the time you are receiving this issue the closing date for entries to the RPS Internationals at Cirencester will be upon you - it is the 2nd August - so if you are planning to enter a sequence you need to get your skates on! There is, however, still time to book to attend the event and full details of how to do this can be found on their website at www.rpsinternational.org.uk If you can't make it to Cirencester then we hope that you can join us for the 20th Great Northern Festival in December. Entries are starting to come in and whilst the closing date of 1st November is still some way off - we would welcome entries and bookings now to avoid a last minute rush. We will be available to collect them at the Internationals in September if this makes it easier. More importantly, may we suggest that you arrange your accomodation as soon as possible as the hotels in the area tend to get booked up early in the run up to Christmas. Full details in the form of a brochure plus an electronic booking form can be found on our website at www.gnfestival.org.uk So our 'boss' is taking leave of his post!!! We remember all too vividly when the 'posse' of Scottie and Brian Jeffs 'persuaded' us individually that we were 'just right for the job' and that, being two of us - it would only be half a job!! Like all jobs within the AV Group it is a labour of love - something to be done when free time permits (but of course, sometimes to certain time constraints.) We cannot let Keith take any blame for us not changing to the new logo for the May issue. The magazine cover was ready for printing prior to the corporate logo being issued...and as 'volunteers' we have a limited amount of time that we can spend on redesigning the magazine. We also have a major problem in that most of our cover images are taken from sequences - and of course they are almost always in 'landscape' format'. We too were extremely surprised at the loss of the Royal Crest - patronage and the prestige that comes with it is difficult to achieve and maybe shouldn't be discarded. We hope you like the new look of the cover and also our website at www.avnews.org.uk which also displays the new logo. We will miss Keith - without any arm twisting, has written his Chairman's Chatter and also technical Photoshop articles. He has allowed us to 'edit' the magazine in our own way and steered the AV Group through somewhat troubled waters. We are grateful that he will continue to proof read the magazine for us and also write articles. We wish him well and hope that he will soon be back. Page 2
