Wilmslow Guild ‘Fiesta’

Frank - Spring must be round the corner, as it is the Wilmslow Guild AV Group's
‘Fiesta’ once again and what a ‘Fiesta’ of Audio Visual we all enjoyed.
I have loved AV for many years now, watching more than creating, although
I have produced a few sequences mainly for family viewing. So this year I invited
along a friend - David, who is now getting the bug.
David - Having seen an excellent AV at one of our Lancashire Wildlife Trust
presentations, I was asked by Frank if I would like to visit 'Fiesta' 2010. I
accepted, not knowing quite what to expect. I was not disappointed.
During the course of the evening Frank was asked if he would like to write a
review and he suggested I might like to add a few words from the perspective of
a first timer. I have been a keen photographer for nearly 40 years but I am a total
novice as far as the “nuts and bolts” of AV presentation goes; having been put
off by the cost and (to me) fiendish complexity of the kit required to produce
“professional” shows - well that’s my excuse anyway.
A wide spectrum of subject matter was presented, ranging from the amusing,
to the factual, to the moving. Can I first say that I was impressed by the quality
of all the AV’s but I would like to highlight ones which I particularly enjoyed.
“Sherlock Lives On” by Jack Heathcote struck a chord as my wife and I are
regular visitors to Switzerland and have visited Meiringen and Luzern on
numerous occasions. Likewise as an extreme Railway Enthusiast I enjoyed “A
Day Out by Boat and Train” by Ray French, describing a trip on the
Aachenseebahn which runs up to the Aachensee from Jenbach in Austria.
Frank - I thought the selection of sequences was great, well balanced and truly
entertaining, for both aficionados and newcomers to the art. We had comedy,
entertainment and education as well as a few brain teasers thrown in for good
