Best Creative Imagery ‘Tony Bramham’
by Colin Balls FRPS
'The Doug Mullins Award'
Presented by Barbara Mullins
The sequence is about an artist who
only started painting and drawing at
the age of 55 and who has received
no formal training whatsoever.
Yet he produces beautiful pieces
of artwork. His natural talent shines
through particularly in his pencil
drawings of portraits of people.
I first met Tony at the beginning of
2010, when I saw his work on display
in a small town museum at Leyland,
Lancashire. When I enquired who had
done these outstanding drawings, I
was told that the artist was standing
behind me! Tony had come in to take
the exhibition down.
From this two hour overlap of our
lives has come a good friendship
and the production of a sequence
about Tony which has been very
well received wherever it has been
shown. Every time Tony sees it, it
brings tears to his eyes (for the right
reasons of course!).
