A View on the International Festival

This is a report by Tony Bramham who
attended the Festival as a friend of Colin
Balls and who featured in Colin's Festival
entry which secured the award of Best
Creative Sequence and also won the
Audience Vote of Session 2. See Page 24
As an outsider at the 2010 Audio Visual
Festival I have been asked to give my views
of the event. I had an excellent time, really
enjoyed myself and got quite excited about
what was for me a new type of Art form.
I travelled down with Colin Balls to
Cirencester and on the way Colin had said
all you have to do is mark each sequence
with an A, B, or C. This sounds easy
enough but where do you begin? It was
hard to know what the standard of the first
AV would be, as prior to this weekend I had only ever seen the work of Colin
and Peter Coles both of whom blend sound and images very well. So I started
to mark low and after the first session my programme was littered with 'C's.
Colin advised me to be a little more generous as I would end up with
insufficient sequences to fill the awards positions!
