AV News 182 - November 2010
Richard then brought out his toys! That's right he brought along with him a
Childs toy projector, it was in good condition to say it was made in 1961, it's
called the 'Give A Show projector' - you may have read about it in the August
AV News! (Page 12).
But what I liked about it was the fact Richard was trying to demonstrate to
us that with the use of just five slides a simple story was told. This illustrated
to me that it really is possible to keep a script simple and to the point, after his
lecture I began to think 'yes I can do this.'
The School was held in the
B&B we were staying at - so no
excuse for being late for school!
There is a load more I could
say, it was a brilliant four days,
the lectures, company and food
and wine was second to none!!!
Whether you're a beginner or have been putting AVs together for some time,
you would defiantly benefit from attending, I don't know if the school is
planned for next year but if it is I would certainly recommend it!
Kathu Photographic Club
Jeff Morris LRPS APSSA
The iron-ore mining town of Kathu is situated in the Northern Cape Province
of South Africa, 800km from
Cape Town, 550km from
Johannesburg and another
800km from Durban.
For perspective, London to
Edinburgh is 500km and there
are no high-speed trains!.
The small but dedicated,
gifted and enthusiastic band of
photographers rely on their own
resources except for occasional
visits by passing photographers,
whom they eagerly welcome.
I enjoyed five-star treatment
with all-inclusive accommodation and delicious meals when I paid a visit to
jump-start the club into the world of AV.
