Music Angel - Without Friendz
Edmund Spavin
I read the Editors' review of the Music Angel Friendz with great interest. So
much so that I threw my Yorkshire financial caution to the winds and bought
one. Mine came via ebay from Discount Discs for the princely sum of £24.90
including postage. A real bargain.
Had I relied solely on the published performance I might have dismissed
it, but Jill and John's experience persuaded me otherwise and I've not
regretted it. True, it can't compete with a good pair of monitor speakers, but
then it's only a fraction of the price and an even smaller fraction of the size. I
haven't tried it in the club room but the sound fills my living room and it is ideal
for checking location or voice-over recordings.
I noted the Editors' warnings to make sure that web purchases were
genuine but when searching on-line I came across Music Angel speakers
(not Friendz). So, in for a penny, in for £7.79, I ordered again from ebay, this
time from a Chinese supplier, eformcity. Buying another! My financial probity
has nose-dived!
The two speakers look
pretty much the same with
similar metal construction.
Listened to side by side
they certainly sound the
same and from the
specifications I would
guess the amplifier chips
are the same.

Both speakers take audio
output from laptop or
sound recorder via a
3.5mm jack into the USB
socket on the rear of the
units using the supplied
cables. Both have a slide
on-off switch.
