Midas Clubman’s raring to go
➲ Wheel-to-wheel racing action is
a recurring theme in the series
At least 35 years young, the Western Cape’s regional Clubman’s racing series, known today as the
Midas Sport Clubman’s Championship, is represented by the die-hard enthusiasts who find a way to grow
their love of motor cars and have fun at the same time.

ut there was a split of race interests,
as the older statesman had the
classic car formula, while the newer
and more modern steeds of the day had
nowhere to race. Many of these cars were
daily modes of transport, thrashed around
the race track come the weekend.
The Midas Sport Clubman’s racing series
began 30 odd years ago with a small but
dedicated group of guys, some of whom
are still involved today. While faces and
names have changed over the years, the
series is still going strong. Its winning
formula has enthralled a massive following
as drivers - and their families - help each
other, while racing to the bitter end.
