ABSTRACT “If you’ve met one individual with autism, you’ve met one individual with autism.” says Stephen M. Shore. Autism spectrum disorder is a serious developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact. People with this condition are termed Autistic. It is a chronic condition that cannot be cured and generally last lifelong with the autistic person. Doctors are still researching for the factors that causes Autism in people but so far they have come up with some environmental and generic factors that mess up the nervous system and causes a neurological defect. This disorder affects the overall cognitive, emotional, social and physical health of the individual. Symptoms can differ from person to person. Some common symptoms include difficulty with communication, difficulty with social interaction, difficulty in finding comforting in others, obsessive interests and repetitive behaviours. Early recognition can help in reducing the impact of symptoms and support better development as well as better learning. It is said that Educational and family therapies have helped Autistic people perform better in their day to day lifestyle. Autism is something not restricted by age. As there is one and
