Autism Connection of PA Newsletter Spring 2018 | Page 2

Executive Director Letter

Dear Readers,

We have had a huge burst of business this year, thanks to you constantly connecting us with the important places and people in your life. We have had projects happening with: three school districts, the Pittsburgh International Airport, the VERA Institute of Justice, (breaking down systemic barriers to prevent abuse of people with disabilities) the Pennsylvania Victims Services Advocacy Committee, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and many, many information fairs. It's hard to pick a favorite activity, but connecting directly with you - our callers, emailers and social media contacts - who reach out for advice or advocacy every single day, definitely at the top of our list.

We work to address topics that mean the most to you with a positive attitude, mixed with empathy for any struggles you face. And this all takes money! With the help of larger fundraising efforts - for instance, our hard-working board is 100% involved with either the Highmark Walk or the Pittsburgh Marathon - we can tackle all of the things in front of us, and more. So it is crucial to have your support as a virtual or in-person participant to help us get done whatever is needed - and to allow us to be available on an ever-changing calendar, adjusting to meet your needs.

Everyone in the office looks forward to seeing you this Spring - at seminars here in the office, at the Dan Miller Disability Summit, high school transition fairs, and our own Medical and Mental Health Aspects of Autism Spring Conference with amazing and progressive medical doctors presenting. Who knows where we'll pop up next? Stay connected to us via our social media, weekly e-news, or just call us to find out where!

Happy Spring!
