Western Australia ( WA ) only experienced a total of 12 days in lockdown in 2021 , allowing business events to continue with confidence . Between August 2020 and the time of writing ( 1 February ), Business Events Perth , has supported over 350 local business events across the State through its Event Here Now fund , which was implemented to support the local events sector while it awaited the return of international business events . Through this fund , major business events such as AOG Energy 2021 , which had over 3,500 delegates in attendance , and the ATSA Independent Living Expo 2021 , with more than 1,600 delegates , safely took place in WA with no Covid transmission .
Event Here Now has also allowed WA ’ s venues and suppliers to maintain a steady stream of work . The initiative has helped many small and medium WA businesses that rely on a steady events calendar to recover from the disruption caused by the pandemic .
The reason for such limited impact on daily life from Covid , Business Events Perth reports , is Western Australia ’ s hard border policy that was implemented in April 2020 , which has allowed for minimal Covid-related restrictions in the State , although
uncertainties over the Omicron variant has seen a delay in the opening of the WA border .

Through the Keynote Speaker Incentive , up to A $ 25,000 is on offer for eligible events , with up to 50 % of funding able to be accessed once the speaker is confirmed .
This initiative is expected to bolster WA ’ s business events calendar , which includes recently confirmed major conferences such as the 25th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals 2023 , the Congress of the International Rock Art Organisations ( IFRAO ) and the 4th Australian Rock Art Research Association Congress ( AURA ) 2024 , and the International Congress on Neuromuscular Diseases 2024 .
And Business Events Perth recently announced that the Australian Hydrogen Conference ( West ) is set to take place in Perth for a twoday event in November 2022 . The conference is expected to see 440 delegates visit the Western Australian ( WA ) city and generate upwards of A $ 560,000 ( US $ 400,000 ).
