In the Flinders Ranges and Outback , marvel at awesome Wilpena Pound , a shockingly large amphitheatre . Venture further into the Outback to Coober Pedy to find the world ’ s largest opal fields or look up at night for a starry show like no other .
For fine coastal scenery and further culinary experiences , make a beeline for the Fleurieu Peninsula . Spend quality time discovering charming towns such as bustling Victor Harbor , Willunga and Goolwa . For seaside escapes where you can lounge on sandy white shores , wind your way across the Yorke Peninsula . Alternatively , dive into the Eyre Peninsula , best known for its aquatic activities , calm beaches and warm waters or , head south along the coast through the Coorong , a thin sliver of land with sand dunes , chains of salt water lagoons and deep blue ocean . Australia ’ s longest river , the mighty Murray , also snakes its way through South Australia .
