Parking Meters now part of downtown Aurora ’ s history
Of all the recent exciting additions to downtown including RiverEdge Park , the new Downer Place bridges and many others , residents and business owners are just as thrilled about something taken out of downtown--- parking meters .
Gone are the hundreds of meters that have been in existence since 1948 . They ’ ve been replaced by a color coded system for on-street and surface lot parking that carry different time limits where visitors and residents can park their vehicles at no charge ( see graphic on right ). The new parking plan is designed to assure more equitable parking opportunities for businesses and patrons and allows them to choose their most convenient option depending on the time they spend downtown .
On-Street parking is enforced from 8 a . m . to 8 p . m ., Monday to Friday and 8 a . m . to 2 p . m . on Saturdays . Parking lots are monitored from 8 a . m . to 5 p . m ., Monday to Friday .
Those who live , work , or frequently visit downtown Aurora are encouraged to take advantage of the City ’ s parking permit program which allows all day parking in parking lots of a person ’ s choice .
Complete information on the new parking plan can be found on the City ’ s website at www . aurora-il . org or by calling the Customer Service Division at ( 630 ) 256-INFO ( 4636 ).

It started on April 2 , 1912 , and it hasn ’ t stopped since — it has only grown bigger , better , and more vibrant .

Anyone who has ever shopped at the market knows that it is the place for the freshest locally-grown produce , farm fresh preservatives , old world breads , a very diverse selection of handcrafted products , and so much more .
This year , the downtown market is returning to the Aurora Transportation Center , 233 N . Broadway Av ., where it will be staged every Saturday from 8 a . m . to noon through Oct . 19 . Those who live closer to the Far West and Far East sides of town can also enjoy Aurora ’ s mid-week Farmers Markets beginning in July . The East side market will be from 1 to 6 p . m . every Thursday at Our Lady of Mercy Church , 701 S . Eola Rd ., from July 11 to Aug . 29 .
While all three markets are known for delectable produce , they have also gained the reputations of being fun , exciting places to gather and socialize . They offer food demonstrations , free knife sharpening , and delicious snacks from tamales to gourmet coffee . To assure the availability of healthy fruits and vegetables to everyone , the three markets also accept LINK cards .
Aurora area community groups are invited to promote their organizations , conduct fund raisers , and get the word out about the special projects they are working on by hosting The Community Table at the Farmers Market . With thousands of visitors to the markets , The Community Table offers a great opportunity to introduce the many wonderful non-profit organizations in Aurora .
