CCS Communication: Introducing ParentSquare
Effective communication is of utmost importance to the CCS mission. Parent feedback during our reaccreditation self-study year affirmed parents’ desire for the school to streamline its modes of communication. Therefore, we are merging as many forms of communication as possible into one new app called ParentSquare. This app can be accessed directly from your smartphone or desktop computer, and parents get to personalize their preferred methods and frequencies of receiving school communication.
New School App: ParentSquare Once ParentSquare is fully launched( by the time school starts), it will replace our weekly Monday emails, the“ old” CCS app( that you can now delete from your phones), Class Dojo( often used in the past by our early elementary teachers), School Messenger( our former method of sending emergency notifications), and GroupMe( often used in the past by our coaches). It will also serve as the primary method of communication between CCS faculty / staff and parents / students. Ensure the school always has your most current email address on file.
Student Information System( SIS) Cornerstone uses Sycamore School as its SIS to create and store important documents and records, such as report cards, transcripts, student schedules, etc. All CCS parents and students in middle and high school have unique usernames and passwords to access Sycamore School. Parents and students of these grade levels will use Sycamore to track their course grades and missing assignments. Additionally, Sycamore is traditionally used by all parents to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences( in November and April) and to re-enroll online in the spring. Please contact the school office if you need help accessing your Sycamore account.
Learning Management System( LMS) Cornerstone has discontinued using Schoology( our former LMS) and is shifting to Google Classroom( which integrates with our SIS) for those high school courses that require an LMS. More information will be shared in each high school teacher’ s syllabus, as it applies.
Social Media Cornerstone maintains a social media presence on Facebook and Instagram. The purpose of these accounts is to build a sense of community amongst our current families and within the greater community. Updates and reminders that are published on the school app will often also be published on Facebook. Additionally, the PTFA also maintains a Facebook Group page called“ Cornerstone Family Connection” that allows parents to communicate with one another.
External Website Cornerstone also maintains an external website at www. thecornerstonechristianschool. com, which is primarily designed for those families who are not yet a part of the school community.
