LUNENBURG OPEN MIC
Lunenburg’ s Open Mic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, beginning at 6 p. m. at the Old Congregational Church building at the top of the Lunenburg Common. This building is accessible, has an amazing wood interior, great acoustics, and open spaces for dancing.
Attendees will find a family friendly, relaxed, small town atmosphere. Bring instruments, voices, and dancing feet or plan to sit and enjoy the evening in the beautiful historical setting. $ 3 admission is charged, and kids free with an adult. Please bring a finger food to share; beverages will be provided. A door prize drawing will take place during the evening.

Robert H. Lovering, Sr
ROBERT H. LOVERING, SR.
NORTH STRATFORD – Robert H. Lovering, Sr., 89, of North Stratford, passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2016, at the Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, surrounded by his family and after a long period of poor health.
He was born in West Stewartstown on Jan. 25, 1927, a son to the late Hazen and Mary( Foster) Lovering. He was raised and educated in Stewartstown, attended the Bear Rock School, and he served with the U. S. Army occupation forces in Germany in the years following World War II.
Following his military service, Bob worked for many years in the local mills, including the Stratford Plywood Mill, for the Brown Co. and later for James
River Corp. He was an active member of the VFW, a charter member of the local Knights of Pythias, a past master and 50 year member of the Grange 238 in Stratford, and also a member of the Pomona Grange. He was a local scoutmaster for Boy Scout troop 227 for years, and he was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in North Stratford, serving as both deacon and trustee. He was very active working on church suppers and he ran the Stratford thrift store for many years. He was a member of the Stratford senior citizens, and he enjoyed helping to set up meals and give rides to those who were in need of them. Bob was an avid card player, especially cribbage, and competitive board game player. He also enjoyed puzzles, trivia games, golf, basketball and fishing.
Bob is survived by two sons, Robert Lovering, Jr. of Auburn, N. Y., and David Lovering and wife Sheila of Concord; three daughters, Cynthia Aldrich and her husband Everett of Bethlehem, Kathy Frechette of Groveton, and Diana Brown and husband Stephen of Groveton; two sisters, Lucretia“ Betty” Sargent of Dalton, and Eunice“ Tommie” Richards of Canaan; 13 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Gladys( Riff) Lovering earlier this year; a son, Bruce Lovering in 1986; one grandchild, Anthony Brown; four brothers, Horace Goodrum, Hazen Goodrum, William Goodrum, and Edward Goodrum; and a sister, Margaret.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 6-9 p. m. at the Jenkins and Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral service took place on Aug. 4 at the First Baptist Church in North Stratford. Burial immediately followed with military honors in the Colebrook Village Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lovering may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101.

SANDRA L. MILLER MEMORIAL SERVICE WHITEFIELD – A memorial service for Sandra L. Miller, 58, who died July 2, 2016, will be held Wednesday afternoon, August 17, at 4 p. m. at the Whitefield United Methodist Church.
