We'll Feature Your Music In Our Movie, It Only Costs £10k! An independent film company recently sent out a 'golden opportunity' to labels to help give exposure to musicians via their new film. The pitch began smoothly with the company acknowledging the difficulty that musicians face to break out and get heard. They then went on to discuss the film synopsis which revolves around a "music business revenge story". The selected artist would gain exposure, a live performance as well as their merchandise being given out. This all sounds great - so how much will the artist be entitled to for taking part in this exciting movie? Nothing. In fact, the company felt that this opportunity was so special that artists must bid at an auction starting at a minimum of £10,000 to win! There are also further runner-up prizes costing between £500-£2,000. To top it off, the artist will have NO rights & royalties to any of the work and will not get a penny no matter what. Even all expenses like merchandise and CDs must be paid by the artist/label. Speaking for the entire music industry, we politely say.. Jog on!
