The beats. The sound of overlapped electronic drum, effects and reverb vocals. The sound that sparks dance moves you probably didn’t even know existed. This is all due to an experiment in music to create a positive and upbeat dance vibe in a club that was originally only exclusive to black, gay men. Even though he was taken too soon, just earlier this year, Frankie Knuckles’ mark on the world is legendary.

It’s a strange feeling finding out that I grew up in a place that has left such an impact on the world. Especially since I am always searching for new music. House music is a very unique genre that will continue to reinvent existing or non-existing tunes. So, sending a fist-bump to Frankie Knuckles, for leaving the door open for future legends to come about and bringing the atmosphere that takes over the night life.
