Our Critical Ears…

Recently I have found going to events or gigs a whole new concept, since promoting, listening and being asked opinions on production of new tracks on a regular basis I hear things differently, I have become highly critical and very aware of clarity of vocals… Will I ever be able to just listen as a listener again?!!!

Emma… Garage expert and DJ, a real one, using vinyl, recently messaged me horrified to tell me that at an event the tracks were being played at 140bpm rather than 135bpm… that girl can count fast!!!

Lol thanks Lynn! Most of the ground covered by Lynn there, yes we had a good night and some dancing occurred after a Bulmer’s or two. The punters enjoyed the acts and responded to many olly olly olly’s with gusto. For me, Shola Ama’s performance shone above the rest. Ritchie Dan’s 2 tunes lacked a spark. Kie’s constant wardrobe changes were irrelevant. The stage dancers needed direction, wardrobe direction and a kick up the arse. Continuity of announcements were awkward and gaps between sets were excruciatingly long. We left in the middle of Dynamite’s first song as the instant ragga nonsense was not what we came for. All in all a decent concert; and certainly not an embarrassment to the UKG community today.

Performers on the night- The Artful Dodger (live dj set), ToddlaT, Sparks and Kie, Sweet Female Attitude, Kele Le Roc, Ms.Dynamite(y), Robbie Craig, Shelley Nelson (performing Something in your eyes), Shola Ama, Special MC, Ritchie Dan.
