We talked about the world not ending December 21, 2012 and the promise of the great spiritual awakening coming. She said that people often ask her for advice in terms of finding resources, and products. She said that she never judges anyone on what they buy. I really liked that. There were things in the store that did not particularly capture my interest but there were many things that not only spoke to me but sang. I realized that is one of the things that make that store magickal. There is something for everyone.
She also specializes in finding books that are difficult to find and she will do special orders. We talked about how things come and go back into style. That gave me pause. I thought of the circle. The Maiden, Mother, Crone, and the Circle that unites each of us.
That got me to thinking as well; many people make their choices on what they purchase based only on price. However in the broader picture, sometimes that may be a bit short sighted. Her business and many like hers have been important parts of our communities for many years. They have invested themselves to the people that they serve.
I also work in home health care. I learned very quickly that when you cannot compete in terms of price then you need to exceed with customer service, quality and consistency of your work or product you provide. She does this in a stellar fashion. When we purchased through local businesses we are not only helping the local business person, we are also investing in the future of our community. We are investing in the lives of people who have been there for us providing these things long before online venues existed. I asked where she thought she would be another 15-20 years. She said she hoped she would still be there selling books. I told her I hoped so too. Places like this are difficult to find. When you find an authentic, genuine person who genuinely wants to share knowledge, contribute and educate, it is truly treasure. You can not find this online or in a major box store.
