It was funny to me that the Pagan community seemed to be living their lives more along the lines of how those of the Christian faiths were suppose to be living theirs. Yet they were looked down upon and accused of being Godless heathens.

Christian, Pagan, it does not matter; it is not hard to be a good person. It is no wonder our people are so messed up when you have priests molesting little boys, preachers sleeping with girls in the congregation, and a pastor saying it is okay to beat your wife if she deserves it. Our churches need a wake-up call. The people attending these churches need to realize that they can get spirituality and a relationship with God without some crazy loon telling them how to live. Until that happens, nothing in the religious world is ever going to change. It isn’t just the Jim Jones’s of the world that are crazy. Sometimes it is the church right down the street.

Despite my bad experience, I am not anti Christian. I do not blame the entire faith for the actions of one bad man. I do not believe there is only one way to God. I have many Christian friends that are wonderful people who attend amazing churches. I do think that people need to be more careful about who they put their trust in.

When attending a new church or organization of ANY faith, search your heart. Ask yourself, “Does this seem right?” Research the rules and what is expected of you. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Remember that faith, religion and spirituality is supposed to be fulfilling. It should feel like coming home. A religious experience should enhance your life, not make you miserable. Be safe and trust your instincts, if it feels wrong, it probably is.
