This truly was at the core of the Reading Room discussion. We talked about maintaining a healthy perspective on gaining abundance but working towards moderation. IvyLieberman mentioned the lyrics from the Rolling Stones song that tells us that “we can’t always get what we want, but we can get what we need.” That is the temperate look at abundance.

The other synchronistic card was the card of the lovers. Love can come in abundance. Someone may bemoan their salary, but have friends who are willing to foot the bill for dining and entertainment. This person is abundant in love, but sees their life as one of lack. Again the problem here is a narrow definition of abundance. If one looks past the casual interpretation of this card one finds that it is a card about establishing personal beliefs and personal values. This is at the heart of the spiritual journey. Is it all about fame and fortune, or is it more about personal growth in a broader understanding of the universe? Part of establishing personal beliefs is about deciding to be true to oneself. This may mean having a life full of joy and playfulness, while missing the mark of what society considers successful.

The minor arcana cards that showed synchronicity were the 10’s of all suits, and the knights of all suits. While the Knights can demonstrate fearless energy, they also can represent an immature, uneven dynamic. These cards sum up the struggle that most people have with keeping positive and following their bliss. It was interesting that the 10’s showed up as a synchronicity. The number 10 shows the completion of one cycle and the start of another. This demonstrated that the cards definitely had something to say! To achieve abundance and usually one cycle ends and another begins. This may be overlooked by the recipient, and they fail to stride forward at this new higher-level. Because old habits creep in, soon they find themselves back at the level they previously were at. Now comes the crying and gnashing of teeth as they shout to the universe that they did not deserve this. Now tell me readers, is the scenario familiar to you?
