It is time to rewrite the ATMS Strategic Plan The Australian Traditional Medicine Society ( ATMS ) completed the 2017-2020 ATMS Strategic Plan at the ATMS AGM in November 2017 .
It is now time to review and renew that Plan and to write the 2021-2023 ATMS Strategic Plan . ATMS members have been invited to complete the ATMS Member Survey 2021 . The ATMS Member Survey 2021 will be open during February and March 2021 , with the results intended to inform the deliberations at a dedicated ATMS Board planning day set for Thursday 8 April 2021 .
We encourage an active participation from members to write the 2021- 2023 ATMS Strategic Plan . There is the prospect of great opportunity for natural medicine in the years ahead , yet that forward path already presents considerable challenges and obstacles , ranging across clinical practice , market regulation and education standards .
First , to review the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan The 2017-2020 ATMS Strategic Plan was concluded at the ATMS Annual General Meeting in November 2017 and is published on the ATMS website at : www . atms . com . au / about-us / strategic-plan /
In preparing the 2017-2020 ATMS Strategic Plan , ATMS conducted a major survey and planning process . Input was solicited from the Board of Directors , management and staff , and from the membership , with over 1190 members responding to a Member Survey . Based on the results of this survey , the 2017-2020 ATMS Strategic
Plan was developed . This strategic plan provided a clear blueprint for ATMS to fulfil its mission for that time : leading the advancement of natural medicine in Australia . At its core , the plan outlined how ATMS will provide member services such as continuing professional education , research in accredited modalities , and advocacy with government bodies and private health insurers via health funds .
Four Strategic Goals were identified through the consultation process . They have been used to identify the work of the ATMS Board and management over the last three years . The four Strategic Goals are : 1 . Continuing Professional Education
( CPE ) Program 2 . Relationships with private health insurers via health funds ( HF ) 3 . Advocacy with government and media stakeholders 4 . Member support
Now , to renew and write the 2021- 2023 ATMS Strategic Plan The context for the 2021-2023 ATMS Strategic Plan is shaped by the renewed Vision and Mission of ATMS .
Vision : A better world through natural medicine .
Mission : To promote , represent and support professional practitioners of natural medicine who are encouraged to pursue the highest ideals of professionalism .
An active process to renew the ATMS Strategic Plan is vital to the strategic governance of ATMS . It is essential for members to have the opportunity to contribute through the ATMS Member Survey 2021 . All members have received direct email communication with a link to the ATMS Member Survey 2021 , and the Survey is open through February and March 2021 .
The Member Survey is being carried out by ATMS and is an anonymous online survey . As an anonymous survey , no names will be on the survey and no digital IP addresses will be stored . Answers provided will be stored securely and kept strictly confidential , except as required by law . Only the researchers involved in this project will have access to the data .
All data will be pooled together and analysed by ATMS Director Professor Sandra Grace ( Osteopath and Chiropractor ), Ms Larisa Barnes ( Naturopath ) and ATMS President Mr Peter Berryman ( Homoeopath ), for presentation to the ATMS Board at a dedicated Board planning day on Thursday 8 April 2021 . The results of the survey will also be reported in the Journal of the Australian Traditional- Medicine Society .
As an incentive to members to actively engage in the future of natural medicine in Australia , members who complete the survey and note their ATMS member number will receive one CPE point . The survey will remain anonymous for data analysis purposes – the ATMS member number is only collected to confirm participation and to allocate the CPE point .
Through this extended consultation process with members , the 2021-2023 ATMS Strategic Plan will be developed . We look forward to your participation .
