Can the Cricket Umpires and Scorers Trust Help You? In 1985, the then Association of Cricket Umpires (ACU) created a benevolent fund. Known as the ACU Trust, and funded by voluntary donations, the objective of the fund was to assist members and former members of the Association and their dependents in times of need with modest financial aid; usually for, but not restricted to, specific items of expenditure. Over the years, the Trust has been able to help numerous members in times of trouble with various forms of assistance; for example, a replacement washing machine; purchase of an electric scooter; cost of extended travel to visit sick spouse in hospital; temporary loans; and many others. The Trust has evolved and whilst it continues to be at the disposal of former members of the Association of Cricket Umpires & Scorers (ACU&S), as from June 2012 it also became available to members of the ECB Association of Cricket Officials (ACO). In the current, generally difficult, financial climate, we are sure there will be members who might benefit from the Trust’s help. More particularly, the winter’s flooding in many parts of the UK may well have caused difficulties leading to financial hardship. In such circumstances the Trust might be able to assist. We are pleased to report that in recent months the Trust has been able to help. As an example, a member and his wife in Cumbria were flooded out of their home. Although th
