A Scorer’s Portfolio
Scoring accreditation is now assessment (rather than exam)
based and summer is the best time to build a scoring
portfolio for anyone wishing to travel along the Scorer
Education Pathway.
• Match planning details, especially when scoring a new or
more advanced match type
• A development action plan
If you have recently undergone Club Scorer training with an
ACO tutor, then you will already be familiar with the concept
of the portfolio and should have the documents that you
need to get started, but those of us who underwent our basic
training earlier, may not be aware of what the portfolio is and
what goes in it.
• Facing page from any course attended, including date,
venue, tutor and course reference.
Course references for portfolio facing pages will be given out
on future scoring courses, but to ascertain a historic course
reference, please contact your County Scorer Officer (CSO)
who will be able to identify this for you.
Blank copies of portfolio forms can be found in the scorer’s
info folder under ECB Public in InEx (ACO document storage
area in the Who’s The Umpire website), where you will also
find a document listing the criteria used to assess against at
each level. Alternatively, talk to your CSO who should be able
to send you blank copies of any of these forms.
A scorer’s portfolio is a folder of evidence that helps to
demonstrate your scoring ability. You can put anything you
like in it, but here is a list of suggested items:
• Copies of completed scoresheets (minimum of 10 per
assessment)
• A log of all matches scored, listing match type, colleagues,
venue etc
• Observation from colleagues on Scorer Performance
Review forms
• Self-reflection and learning points from matches scored
Don’t wait until you have attended another course. Why not
download the forms now and start building a portfolio that
spans your whole scoring career? When you have built a
portfolio and are ready for assessment, contact your CSO
who will be able to arrange a professional discussion
with an accredited ACO assessor.
