Challenges
The biggest challenges for the Chase the Dark program related to logistics – how do you organise a global,
volunteer-driven event? How do you create value for the sponsors? And then there was the risk of the event
getting away from us on social media, becoming a lesson for what not to do. Developing a culturally universal
activity that would resonate globally (the activity started as LightBombing in the IALD UK region – we
changed the name when repurposing the event for a global audience) and exemplify the mission and vision of
the association. Thankfully, detailed planning and close communication with region/chapter coordinators
enabled successful execution of the event, without even one minor hiccup.
