Aims and Objectives:
IALD’s Chase the Dark event is designed to raise the profile of the architectural lighting design profession and
demonstrate the power of light to transform urban areas.
Introduction:
The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) in cooperation with acdc LED Ltd. “Chased the
Dark” across the globe on 14 November 2013, with a series of temporary lighting installations demonstrating
the power of light in urban communities.
Background:
Over the course of 24 hours, architectural lighting designers from eight countries in eight time zones created
improvisational lighting scenes using small LED-light ice-cubes, captured the scenes on camera, and uploaded
the images to Twitter using the hashtag #IALDchasedark
