Meet the Assisi team
Assisi Aid Projects is governed by a volunteer Committee of Management who ensure good governance,
financial integrity and provide support to the Assisi staff and overseas partner organisations. Assisi operations
are managed by a team of two part-time staff members, CEO - Karen Young and Finance Manager - Lin Sun.
Assisi projects are implemented in India and Cambodia by skilled staff through our partner organisations,
Integrated Development Trust in Tamil Nadu and Live & Learn Environmental Education in Cambodia.

Tony is a veterinary surgeon and
works for the Victorian Department of
Environment and Primary Industries.
In 2008 Tony was awarded the Public
Service Medal for services to Australia’s
cattle industry through the introduction
of the National Livestock Identification.
Philippa has a Masters of International
Business and 15 years of Senior
Management experience in the
Australian banking sector. Philippa’s
specialties include strategy development,
project management and change
management.
Andrew is a Director of Logan &
Hall – Accountants and Advisers in
Swan Hill Victoria and a member of
CPA Australia. He has a Bachelor of
Business (Agricultural Commerce)
degree and over 20 years finance
industry experience.

Brigid Mulcahy
Tom is one of the founding members of
Assisi Aid Projects. He served as President
of Assisi from 2002-2008, and is famous
within the organisation for raising over
$200,000 for victims of the tsunami in
Tamil Nadu, India. Tom received an Order
of Australia Medal in 2008, recognising
his service to the community.
Dione has over 10 years experience
working in the development sector,
commencing in 2 000 with a volunteer
placement in Vanuatu. Following
this, Dione worked at Live & Learn in
Melbourne. During this time, she assisted
in the transfer of Assisi’s administration
from Bendigo to the Melbourne office.
Brigid is an Alumnus of the Teach for
Australia program and has expertise
in both education and law. Brigid has
completed a Bachelor of Economics
and Laws, a Master of Laws and a
Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching.

Karen Young (CEO)
Amanda has worked in the humanitarian
and development sectors for over 16
years, primarily in conflict and postconflict environments. She has extensive
experience in the design, delivery,
monitoring and evaluation of community
based programs. She is currently managing
programs for gender equality and women’s
rights in Timor Leste.
Tim is an international businessman
with over 25 years delivering
projects and managing businesses
across Oceania, South East Asia
and the Middle East including in
the development sectors. Tim has a
bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
and Masters Degrees in Science
and Business.
Karen has over 10 years experience
working in development sector,
starting in 2006 with an 8-month
volunteer placement in Cambodia.
Since then Karen has worked on
a range of projects in Eritrea, the
Maldives, Timor Leste, India and
the Solomon Islands.
