Message from the President of the South
African Sports Confederation and Olympic
Committee (SASCOC)
After successfully hosting the ASPC International Forum on Elite Sport in Durban last year, it is now
Africa’s turn to host the 1st ASPC African Sport Forum. With the theme: Developing Sport Together:
Africa will take the debate started last year further to enhance African sport in all its spheres. Like other
continental associations sport leaders in Africa want to raise the bar when it comes to debating the issues
of sport in Africa.
We are fortunate to have the services of the Prime Human Performance Institute in Durban and the
African Sport Forum Vice Chair, Dr Kevin Subban and his team, working tirelessly to make this Forum
meeting a success. As Sascoc we are proud to be part of this Forum as we continue to search for
excellence in South African Sport. Participants at this Forum will take away great ideas on how to
improve sport in their respective countries. Our joy is to see the support of eThekwini Municipality and
the Department of Sport and Recreation in the Province of Kwazulu-Natal. It is in holding hands in this
fashion that we will build sport on the Continent.
On behalf of the sports movement in South Africa we welcome all our visitors and we hope you will take
the opportunity to experience the beauty of Kwazulu-Natal.
