Konnie Huq & Charlie Brooker
Kanak Asha “Konnie” Huq is a British television presenter and writer, who is best known for
being the longest-serving female presenter of Blue Peter, having presented it from 1 December
1997 until 23 January 2008. She presented the 2010 series of The Xtra Factor on ITV2. She was
born in Hammersmith, London, to Bangladeshi parents who had emigrated to England in the
1960s. Konnie graduated from Robinson College, University of Cambridge with a degree in
economics. In 2010, Konnie married Charlie Brooker.

Charlton “Charlie” Brooker is an English humourist, satirist, critic, journalist, author, screenwriter,
producer, presenter, and broadcaster. In December 2011, Brooker’s Black Mirror, a three-part
television drama series, aired on Channel 4 to largely positive reviews. As well as creating the
show, Brooker wrote the first episode and co-wrote the second with his wife Konnie Huq. He
also wrote all three episodes of season two.

Mishal Husain is a British news presenter currently appearing on BBC World News and BBC
Weekend News. She was previously a presenter on HARDtalk and BBC Breakfast. Mishal will
become a presenter of the Today programme on BBC Radio 4 in the autumn of 2013. Born
in Northampton, England, her parents are of Pakistani origin. She studied Law at New Hall,
Cambridge, followed by a Master’s degree in International and Comparative Law at the
European University Institute in Florence, Italy. Mishal married Meekal Hashmi in July 2003.

Meekal Hashmi is a lawyer working as General Counsel-EMEA at Neuberger Berman. A law
graduate from the University of Edinburgh he also has an LLM degree in International Financial
and Banking Law from the London School of Economics. He started his training at Trowers &
Hamlins before moving to a role at Clifford Chance in 1997. He became Legal Counsel first at
Citco Fund Services and then at Barings in 2002. In 2006, he left to become General Counsel at
Old Mutual Asset Managers, a role he held until 2012 when he joined his current firm.
