Today, the customer needs talent in multiple locations producing in conjunction with one another, allowing talent or guests to simply travel to the nearest site — broadcast and produc- tion and post-production resources can be assigned from any site based on availability. Communication and network links (with increasing bandwidth over 10G) have had to be established for live video backhaul, while communications such as intercom and network, shared me- dia asset management systems, shared post-production workfl ows and content management and playout must be ac- cessible from any site. ABS has been meeting these chal- lenges and overcoming them with a blend of technologies, which are al- lowing customers to continue to scale their operations while creating seamless workfl ows across the various locations and production functions. Th ey are a cor- porate customer, and uses a hybrid of traditional studio production with the inclusion of remote guests. Th e remote guests are increasingly connecting not through studios but through a blending of video conferenc- ing and broadcast sites, which have been established to allow for seamless productions utilising existing infra- structure across the region. Th e challenge has been the coordi- nation and management of the produc- tions, where oft en only one or two ope- rators are responsible for the complete production process — including live webcasts. It becomes not a challenge of the technology supporting the pro- duction, but of operational workfl ows, which support such complex operations from small teams while maintaining high-quality content. Today, the key is to work hand-in- hand with customers to fi nd a solution that meets their budget, production requirements and aspirations as a media company.
