EXPERIENCE THE FUTURE Join in the conversation: Organised by: SES www.ConnecTechAsia.com #ConnecTechAsia #CommunicAsia2018 #NXTAsia2018 #BroadcastAsia2018 Playout environments are beginning to move to a virtualised and software-defined envi- ronment, says Pebble Beach Systems, as the company highlights its Orca and Lighthouse solutions. Orca is a software-defined virtualised IP channel solution that provides a flexible option to deploy or contract IP-based chan- nels “almost instantly”, without the burden of racks of complicated hardware, or weeks of set-up and provisioning, says Pebble Beach Systems. As a complete virtual channel-in-a-box solution, Orca channels run in a virtual ma- chine (VM) in a private cloud with IP inputs and outputs. It is also designed to deliver all the functionalities that could previously only be handled by discrete hardware video servers, graphics and captioning systems — within a pure software environment, main- tains Pebble Beach Systems. At booth 6J3-05, visitors can also check out its Lighthouse, a Web-based remote management and monitoring dashboard for the company’s Marina automation system. Lighthouse extends Marina’s function- ality to business users, operational staff and engineers both inside and outside the broadcast facility. It offers control, monitoring, media management and system configuration tools via an array of widgets on configurable Web-based dashboards. Lighthouse can also span multiple Marina systems, which may be running different software versions and can be operating at different frame rates. As Pebble Beach’s product portfolio continues to expand into the virtual world, Lighthouse also offers a series of interfaces that deliver configuration and deployment functionality for Orca virtual channels. Other highlights include Dolphin, an inte grated channel device that operates un- der Pebble Beach Systems’ automation con- trol. It delivers highly automated integrated audio, video and graphics functionality for ingest, channel branding and frame-accurate multi-channel playout. There is also a celebratory mood around the Pebble Beach Systems booth, as the com- pany announces a number of key deals. To be deployed in the next few months, Pebble Beach Systems is completing a project for India’s public broadcaster, Doordashan, for playout and news automation integration. In Sri Lanka, Voice of Asia’s new chan- nels are already on air, supported by ingest, playout and media management systems from Pebble Beach Systems.
