14 BROADCASTASIA2016 SHOWDAILY 14 1 June 2016 Production switchers share spotlight with new Ross Video camera If you are visiting the Ross Video booth, your attention might be drawn to the company’s eyecatching line-up of production switchers. Among these is the newest member of the Carbonite family, the Carbonite Black Solo, which will “set a new benchmark in its class for small production switchers”, according to Ross Video. The Solo has six SD/HD- SDI connections and three HDMI inputs, and it is equipped with six floating frame synchronisers with format converters that can be assigned to any input, and comes with five SDI and one HDMI outputs. It also features a single M/E with four full-featured keyers, a transition keyer for DVE and media wipes, as well as an UltraChrome chroma key. Also new is the Carbonite Black Plus, a “signal processing marvel”. Described by Ross Video as a more powerful version of the original Carbonite Black, the inputs of Car bonite Black Plus are all equipped with frame synchroniser, format converters, colour correction and processing amplifiers. Acuity, the “big brother” of Ross Video’s production switchers is also on display at booth 5D4-01. Ross Video’s top-of-the-line, large production switcher is designed to support production of big live events, including 1080p60 and 4K/ Ultra HD (UHD) productions. There are more products to check out, including Ross Video’s Furio RC remote and motion con trollable robotic camera dolly with complete camera and lens control. Andrew Tan, director of sales, Asia-Pacific, Ross Video, recom mends Furio RC for live events pro ductions that require faster speed, and has already seen brisk sales in China. The Furio RC con sists of a motorised dolly, a telescopic lift, a two- or threeaxis camera head and a set of operator controls. Making a Broad castAsia debut is Ross Video’s Ultrix, a routing switcher platform capable of switching video sig nals from 270Mbps Ross Video’s Andrew Tan welcomes visitors to check out the company’s line-up of production switchers. to 12Gbps. It is de Ting Ting making her telepresence felt signed to allow users to software license additional capabilities such as advanced audio processing, in tegrated multiviewers and 12Gbps signal switching, and can be en hanced with Ross Video’s Xpression line of real-time motion graphics systems, clip servers, workflow tools and software applications. And there was a time when you might not have necessarily associated Ross Video with cam eras. Now, you probably will, as the company makes its first foray into the camera vertical with the ACID camera. “We are not looking to compete directly with existing and established camera brands out there,” Tan explains. “Instead, the ACID is designed for a very specific and niche market.” Specialising in chroma keying, the Carbonite UltrachromeHR system generates a full-resolution 4:4:4 signal for the development of high-resolution key edges, the “first-of-its-kind” in the industry, Tan concludes. Making her presence felt at the show is Ting Ting, via an iPad mounted on a Double 2 tele presence robot. Controlling the robot from her San Francisco of fice, she is able to roam around her distributor Otsaw Digital stand at Level 3 and converse with visitors in real time. John Ling, the business director promoting the versatility of the telepresence robot, says: “Ting Ting is driving the robot’s movement from San Francisco, not me. She is able to respond to anyone wanting to talk to her. “We have sold more than 20 of the Double robots, mainly to corporations as some of them are keen to expand telecommut ing. Driving your own Double robot from wherever you are means you can roam around the office, lab or factory floor and talk to your colleague or answer questions or queries they may have.” Perhaps, producers can deploy the telepresence robots in a studio to talk to camera crew while in their office or an auditorium to engage viewers for their comments. Head for booth 3B1-07 for further information … and you can choose to talk to Ting Ting or John Ling.
