asfACTS O n the 28th of September, the Anglican Students’ Federation (ASF) suggested all regions within the Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA) plant a tree to commemorate arbour month in all the campuses across ACSA where there is an Anglican Society (ANSOC). This was done because the ASF’s mission is to serve the needs of students and communities, to proclaim the Gospel of Christ and to develop mature Christian students for leadership in church and society. To lead in society one must be aware of the problems facing society of which are not limited to the struggles of our forefathers of inequality, poverty and other social ills of which are still not resolved to this day. Our world is in danger much more today than in the past. The effects of pollution, deforestation, drainage of wetlands can be seen in the changing and severe weather patterns we experience coupled with earthquakes and shifts in rain seasons to name a few adverse effects. Regions answered the call and ASF exchange their red for GREEN… ASF providing a breath of fresh air since 1960 Vuyisani Ludidi Gauteng-Mpumalanga By: FifiwaJeso North-West University, Vaal is rated as one of the green campuses around South Africa. This is because it is situated near the banks of Vaal River and its has different animals around it. We chose green colour for our uniform to show the greenness in us and because green is the colour of nature. As the out gone BEC, we used to have our meeting by the river side and this spot would make our meetings fruitful as lot of ideas used to fill our minds as we hear the sound of the river flow and the breeze around us. The incoming BEC is working on the idea of REDUCE, REUSE and RECYLE because they feel it is their duty as Ansocers to keep the campus clean. The idea is still in the pipeline and it should work out as soon as next year. This is us!! " ANSOC NWU KA BOTALA" Page 4
