He released his first single in 2007. Now online views of his music videos number in the millions. At the age of 26, Lebanese-Australian singer Faydee has legions of dedicated fans across the world, and he is helping to promote an important message of respect.
Can you tell us about your Lebanese heritage, and what it means to you? Well I was born in Sydney, Australia but my parents were born and raised in Tripoli, Lebanon. I try to embrace my heritage as much I can. I mean even though I was born in Australia, the Lebanese culture is instilled in me and I’m proud of it. been asked to change my name as it was looked at as too Middle Eastern for this industry, but I didn’t want to, I didn’t want to hide my heritage for anyone.
Do you see yourself as a positive role model for young people of Lebanese and Middle Eastern heritage? I can only show people the person I am, and in saying that I try to be the best person I can be. In this Australian industry, being Lebanese does make things harder, I’ve had to fight for what I have more than a lot of people in this industry because of where I come from and my name. I’ve
Have you always wanted to be a performer? Always, from dancing to singing to acting, I didn’t care, I just wanted to entertain.
What were the things that helped you to achieve the success you have had? Determination, drive and a passion for music. I had a lot of people that tried to tell me it was impossible and I think that just drove me more.
