EQUITABLE GRANTMAKING IN PRACTICE: ARTISTS AS THE GENESIS OF AN INCLUSIVE CREATIVE ECOLOGY GARGI SHINDÉ Chamber Music America ARTS & INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS • 5.1 • SUMMER 2020 Gargi Shindé is Program Director for Jazz at Chamber Music America. She leads three programs distributing over $3.1 million in support for creation, presentation, touring, and ensemble development in the field of jazz. She recently launched CMA’s Performance Plus program, supporting women bandleaders by creating apprenticeship opportunities with veteran jazz icons. She is a contributor to “RE-Tool: Racial Equity in the Panel Process,” a resource to achieve racial equity in the grants review and selection process of artists and arts organizations.
