writing the teenage years and I’m
going to keep writing. I’ll be One
Funny Grandma one day. It’ll be
very exciting!
Were you always interested in
comedy? When you were go-
ing for Miss New Jersey, did you
know comedy might be in your
future?
I think that I figured out that I was
funny while I was Miss New Jer-
sey. I was always funny around my
friends, but it wasn’t until the year
I was Miss New Jersey that I knew.
You have a platform and an abil-
ity to stand in front of people and
tell stories. People always said I
was funny, but it’s one thing to be
funny on accident and one to be
funny on purpose. So I thought
about doing stand-up when I was
Miss New Jersey. I was about 22-
23 at the time. But it took seven
years until my 30th birthday when
my husband bought me a com-
edy class. I guess I was just worn
down from two kids… I was like
comedy can’t be as difficult as
motherhood. So I started taking
this comedy class and this is how
we ended up.
