There is still Thebes, Sparta, Olympia, and Argos, ancient wonders of the Greek;
Or, we could read the ten bestselling novels, and give our critique.
Please don’t hurry off, just where so soon would you be going?
We haven’t even touched the subjects of disc tossing, polo, or canoe rowing!”
“Why there is still gene splicing, heirloom seeds, and chromosomes,
And, did you know I was there when Bell invented the telephone?
I will make us some lovely crumpets, biscuits, and tea,
If you will stay and discuss the tribes of Navaho, Crow, and Pawnee with me.
Wait! Don’t speed off! He cried, “I have many more things we should discuss.
Why are you hastening off like some express bus?”
By this time, that little intellectual frog was getting quiet annoying,
Verbalizing with the little amphibian, I was no longer enjoying.
So, when he hopped up and attached himself in a deadlock round my knee,
I realized that it was far past time for me to take flight and flee.
Regrettably, he would not let go! So, I took my little foot, and squashed that critter,
Just as thin, compact, compressed, and flat as any apple fritter!
