Each Their Own Path
by Lois Abbott Tanner
There are those who are made for adventure and to roam;
Others are content to remain behind tending hearth and home.
Some must climb the next hill, wander fresh paths, or ford new streams,
Others, from a familiar place, watch nightly their stars and moonbeams.
There are those born restless and who must traipse out on some novel quest,
While others linger back by home’s fire to take their nightly rest.
Some like the comfort of known and accustomed things,
The experienced sights and sounds that every day brings.
Yet, others dream big and strange melodies hear,
Something novel and enticing whispers into their ear.
A person cannot slip into another’s skin,
Each must follow their own chart deposited deep within.
So, I set you free to go, and pray you find all you yearn for,
But, know that I will be here waiting, if ever you seek no more.
