CITE' DES ARTS AND LAFAYETTE SCIENCE MUSEUM
Steampunk?
Many artists and “cosplayers” (creative costume and role players - people who like to dress up and pretend) came to the first Steampunk Festival. It was like the 1800’s met Jules Verne-kind-of-Science-Fiction - where steam and mechanical machines are the rage of invention and design. Steampunk is a genre of creativity - it is the exploration of advanced fictional technological devices and victorian style clothing, costumes and accessories; and, creating exciting stories and new worlds.
Makers?
This festival includes folks who love to make and design stuff - all kinds of stuff. Steampunk Artists and creatives are now hooking up with scientists and inventors, programmers and fabricators, builders and do-it-yourself-ers. Partnerships and “cross-pollinations” have begun to develop, expanding the festival to include much broader interests, activities, concepts & attractions.
