Concert Dance
Anything that is performed on stage, and in current times that could be almost any dance style. The original forms of concert dance are your traditional Ballet, Contemporary, and Modern Dance.
Ballet is a very technical form of dance having its own vocabulary based on French terminology. A great example almost everyone knows is The Nutcracker.
Modern Dance went completely against the technique of the toe pointed up right ballet and started its own movements incorporating contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation. This form of dance is danced mostly bare-foot in non- traditional costuming.
Contemporary Dance has grown to dominate the performance world for trained dancers. This is a mix of both ballet and modern dance with unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction.
Contemporary also tends to have a lot more emotion shown through facial expressions.
